the town and the hotel are wonderful the hotel has ponds and is building an inground pool. has great views and terrific staff.
I stayed here a year ago i though the place had great service the owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. the place isnt the newest kid on the block but its lovely and charming.
My booking on priceline was quick and easy. As others have said, I also had a little trouble finding the place since the address number mounted on the porch is behind some bushes. But it was quite a treasure when I got my first peek. I felt like a kid again visiting my grandmother's house in Babylon, NY 50 years ago. All of it raised long-forgotten memories from the old in-room refrigerator to the antique plumbing as well as the collectible books and magazines and amazing and incredible "stuff". They even let me play their old piano, even though I haven't practiced in years. Although this "experience" is definitely NOT for everybody, I found it to be delightful. The atmosphere was extraordinarily personable. My relaxed late-morning breakfast with the proprietor on the front porch was both educational and insightful about his connection with the town and its rich history. Nearly everyone who came past seemed to know him by name and had a bit of personal conversation with him. AND he had great coffee- a big part of how I judge a hotel. Even the cat had a seat with us. I honestly left feeling both spiritually and physically better than I had in some time. I'm starting to believe what they say about the "healing waters" in this town. I am in this area 3 or 4 times a year and this will always be my first choice of lodging. Thank you, Rick.
I booked this place for my son and I to flop for a night before we proceeded to Cooperstown Dreams Park. The owner was very friendly on the phone and made great efforts to help us get in since he was not going to be there. He seemed liked a great guy. That was the good part. It was difficult to find and when I did find it the neighbor was offering one of his places since this place was such a mess. I went up on the front porch and looked inside and exited. The place looked like the outside of Sanford and Son. I ended up staying at the Budget Inn in town for about $65 which was $5 more than this place. Well worth the extra money. In fairness, I did not see much of the inside but the outside and the peak inside was enough to do me in. $60 does not go far. This place reminded me of a scene in the movie Carrie is all I can say. Buyer beware (even if for just a night to flop). There is a reason it is called the Turn Around Spa Lodge.
